Step 1 on Your Digital Transformation Journey - Identify Legacy Records

Today, digital transformation is not just a strategic nice-to-have, it's a real-world requirement to stay competitive and resilient well into the future. Let's explore our 5 steps to help you unlock the full potential of your data. To achieve the benefits of digital transformation, you need to build a good foundation. Most business records today are born digital. But the truth is that a great deal of business still gets done on paper. So even if you have a mix of physical and digital records, having a clear digital transformation strategy is key. Identifying and determining what should be digitized, stored, or defensibly destroyed is the first step in this process. It can be the most time-intensive and complicated step, but you can't make good business decisions if you don't know what you have.

By undertaking this foundational step, you avoid:

Increased costs by storing records that have met their retention requirements.
Compliance risks by not adhering to regulations that require destruction once records have met their retention dates.
and Lost productivity if your team can't easily find or collaborate on documents that are commingled or scattered across locations.

After you’ve identified which records you need to keep, you can then decide what to digitize. The quality of your choices here will affect the quality of the insights you extract from your data further down the process.
